Hey y’all it’s Workout Wednesday!

I’m back and I’m going to try to stay back. My schedule is changing up a little bit so I’m getting a little more free time to blog, socialize, hang out with my kiddos, and WORKOUT! I’ve officially hopped on the fitness bandwagon and I’m not ashamed. On the other hand, I am exhausted! I try to make it to the gym at least 3 times a week. My last visit on Sunday, wore me out. I completely pushed my limits. My abs on day 3 are still so sore even to touch (not good). However, I have lost quite a few inches in my stomach region, and I have dropped 9 lbs in 4 weeks. Usually when I diet or whatever it only tends to last for maybe 2 weeks. I’ve been eating clean for a month now, and I do slip up like once a week but it’s okay, I think?

My booty is back to normal and ready for leg/booty day (which is today). I found a few different workouts on Instagram over the past few weeks, and I’ve been doing them religiously. I’ve mixed them up and created my own workout. I’m a weakling so when I see these women doing 100 squats without a problem, I’m just like “Hell to the NO, how about I start with 20!”

This workout routine can be done at home, but I prefer in the gym.

First things first, you MUST STRETCH.

  • 20 squats w/ legs together
  • 20 squats w/ legs shoulder width apart *add a little weight, use a barbell*
  • 30 pop squats
  • 20 lunges

If you are like me and you’re out of shape, haven’t hit the gym but maybe 3 times even though you’ve had a membership for 9 months, this little workout will have you aching and sweating. Believe me!  I’ll continue to post my the different workouts that are helping me. So far this is a good one.

My Stitch Fix

It’s taken a month, but I finally got my Stitch Fix! I have to say that I am actually quite impressed with my 1st Fix. This is a website that  gives you a stylist that reviews the information you submit, then sends you items he/she feels would fit your lifestyle or preference. All you have to pay is $20 for the styling fee and you only pay for what you keep. The items fit fairly well; however, some weren’t my style. Oh and there is a waiting list. haha!

image (21)This was the 41 Hawthorn Sleeveless Jersey Top—-> Not a fan at all. My boobs are a little too big for this top, it is actually unflattering.

image (22)Hard to see, but this is a BB Dakota Asymmetrical Jacket. I loved it; however, I have monkey arms and they didn’t work well with this blazer. I was very bummed. I really wanted to keep this even though it was $98 I didn’t care. So I’m actually telling my stylist to send the same one in a size larger or something similar. Ha.

image (15)This was my favorite piece, the Everly Zig Zag blouse. The fit is perfect, and it will go with just about anything. I can def wear this to work, so I’m keeping it. It wasn’t that expensive either, more than what I’d ideally like to pay for a shirt, but I got a J.O.B, so I don’t mind.

image (13)Now, this is a BB Dakota Peter Pan Collar Top. I don’t know exactly how this was supposed to fit, but I am not a fan. The armpit area was huge, and it was overly expensive!

Lastly, I had a cute blue 41Hawthorn Cali Wrap-Around Dress. It was extremely flattering. I wanted to upload a picture, unfortunately my little photographer was too short (5-year-old daughter). I couldn’t get a good picture of it on the floor like the others either. I decided I will not be keeping this item because the length is too long. I told my stylist that I do want other dresses similar just shorten the length up some unless it is going to be a Maxi Dress (my current liking).

Happy Mother’s Day

I enjoyed my weekend (it’s not over yet) with my beautiful kids,  and in a salon getting my hair “did” and cut. First, on Saturday I decided I wanted to change-up my hairdo a bit; well, actually a lot. I am now a redhead! I needed to spice up my style and what better way to do that than to go BURGUNDY. I have to say, it fits perfectly with my skin tone. However, my stylist informed me that red is the hardest color to upkeep. So, let’s hope I can keep up with going to the salon every other month.

On to the next…I woke up this morning with a surprises from my babies. I got flowers, a sweet store bought card. But, most of all my daughter made a sweet card at school that just cracked me up so much. I mean, the things that kids say.

 It literally reminded me of that old TV Show from the 90’s  “Kids Say the Darndest Things,” which was a hilarious show. Not sure how I remember it because I was between 5-10 yrs old when it aired. Yes, I am a young grasshopper and I had kids at an early age. Don’t judge me, I wouldn’t take it back for anything!

So, besides the fact that I am 20 years old, and my name is “Tootie,” I am also 6 1/2 feet tall and weigh 21 lbs. I busted out laughing as I was reading this, and then Bray (my daughter) got this sad look on her face, I had to reassure her it was a sweet card and I was laughing because of how cute it was. She thought I was making fun of her! Totally not the case. I am definitely going to cherish this sweet card. I mean she even made me brown…

<——HAHA! This explains me to a T!

My random off the wall post…mainly because I am bored and wide awake. It is 6:44 a.m. the morning after my big surgery and I have been up since 4:00 a.m. I haven’t had much time on the computer lately. Now, it seems all I have time for is the computer.  I felt like a true champ yesterday,  just like I did the first day I had a c-section. What do ya know, the morning after surgery I feel like hell. I am so sore, and hungry…which is to be expected and I miss my little munchkins so  much! 

The past two weeks of preparing for surgery I have been on a low-carb diet! Dieting usually isn’t my thing, and I have struggled beyond belief with it. I made a good meal from that recipe book I posted about a few weeks ago “Cook Yourself Thin.” Needless to say, it didn’t take  “minutes” like it claimed. Preparing and all that took roughly an hour, way too much time, very annoying. I came close to just throwing the stuff away. So, I chose not to even post a recipe on it!  Apple sauce, pineapples, grapes, cucumbers, salads, condensed soups, and lots of water; unfortunately this is all that’s in my diet right now. I have dropped 7 lbs since my pre-op date back in February. Yayy me!

A hot mess doesn’t even describe how I look right now. I look toe up from the floor up, no joke! Change is slowly coming my way. I am ready to get healed so I can get my hair done again…going back to blonde ;) My life has been really hectic lately, but everything is looking up. I may be in some pain and can’t drive, but I am so excited that I finally got what I have wanted for like 15 years. Sorry for just blabbering, like I said I am bored!!

DIY: Jewelry Holders

Well, it took forever to get this picture my cousin took of the necklace holders I made; therefore, I didn’t post anything about it. Anyways, in January I attended another Pinterest Party. Last time, we made modpodge coasters, this time we made  jewelry holders out of a block of wood. They are super cute, right?

Materials needed:

  • block of wood
  • modpodge
  • scissors
  • pencil/pen
  • sand paper
  • scrap-book paper
  • small screw-in hanging hooks

The blocks that we used were already painted. All you need to do is get some cheap paint, one coat should do; allow to dry then use sand paper to give it the rustic look. 

  1. Screw in hooks first (after blocks are painted)
  2. trace the blocks on paper of choice
  3. cut out paper
  4. add one coat of modpodge  to block then apply your scrapbook paper.
  5. allow to dry & if rustic look is desired lightly use the sand paper on edges.

Taa-daaa! Now, it’s finished. Simple & easy!

Chuy’s Creamy Jalapeno Sauce!!!

Just about everybody and their momma’s love Chuy’s “green” sauce, which is actually kind of white if you ask me..well sort of? Almost every time I go eat there I ask — “Why in the world is it called green sauce when it is clearly whitish with some green flakes?”….the waiters never know!

Today, like many other days I was craving some of that sauce. I live an hour away from the nearest Chuy’s. I was actually by one this morning because of school, but I wasn’t desperate enough to eat alone and I didn’t plan on making another trip down there. So, there was only one option left…duplicate this stuff! I found quite a few copycat recipes. Unfortunately, only 1 out of 5 recipes that I found sounded like it could be “the sauce”. First off, it’s not just ranch people! Anyone with real taste buds would know they flavor that sauce up with something else! Luckily, I came across this page Plain Chicken who found it from another site… I swear it tastes JUST like Chuy’s!

And here it is…….

Creamy Jalapeno Dip

  • 16 ounces Light Sour Cream
  • 1 package (1 Oz.) Ranch Dip Mix
  • 2 whole large jalapenos, roughly chopped (*take out the seeds or you’re gonna regret it)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 whole lime, juiced
  • 4 tbsp milk

add all the ingredients to a mixer & blend til smooth

***I ended up having to add an extra 4 tbsp of  regular ranch because it didn’t taste “just like it” at first. 

 

This sauce can be used on anything I believe. Next time I make stuffed jalapeno peppers I’m definitely gonna be dipping them bad boys in my Chuy’s Dip. Yum!

New Year, New eating habits…maybe!

New Years Resolutions, I haven’t ever really stuck with mine because every single year it’s almost the same thing, have a healthier lifestyle. Like everyone, I have a weakness for high calorie foods, actually anything unhealthy is what I enjoy. I mean I’m bad…I can go on a healthy diet kick which only tends to last for maybe a week or two then it’s all washed down the drain when I see that beautiful fattening cheesecake, or those horrible commercials with pictures of yummy food.

Something like this, one of my favorite dishes from Olive Garden.

olive garden steak gorgonzola alfredoSteak Gorgonzola Alfredo! Ohh em gee, so freaking good man! I’m a huge pasta lover, and just recently became a steak lover. This badazz dish just puts me on another planet. Afterwards though, I feel horrible because it’s so heavy and it makes me tired.

Dave's Double CheeseburgerDave and Busters commercials; why do they have to show images of fattening juicy cheeseburgers…this place is mainly about games and stuff right? Why tease us people who are trying to diet? Come on now!!

Or what about this, we all know it…we all love it!

The Cheesecake Factory and lately they have been showing commercials out the bootayyy! This place is another one of my weaknesses. Having my two favorite foods in one place is a big NO NO! Spaghetti and cheesecake..yummy, yummy, yummy!!! I need to shut up, I’m feeling a craving coming along.  Anyways, we see these stupid advertisements and we lose all of our self-control that we have had for a few days. By “we” I  mean the people who actually love food, and the flavors of all the goodness. haha!

When I was pregnant with my son he opened up my taste-buds so I’m blaming him for mommy’s bad judgement with food. Another one of my favorites is sushi,  fake sushi. I only eat fried sushi rolls and I was told that’s not really considered sushi because it’s not raw. Sorry dude, but you can’t pay me to eat a raw creature like a squid, or an octopus…ewww! Okay maybe, if the price is right and I am allowed to have a chaser. But, I don’t ever see sushi commercials, why is this? I think it’s pretty healthy; you get rice, sea weed, cucumbers, and shrimp, kani (fake crab)…that doesn’t sound fattening? When I’m on my so-called diets, I eat tons of Crunchy Shrimp Rolls and Texas Expresses! Those suckers are DABOMB.COM. Call me crazy but I’m always going to consider them “healthy” until an expert tells me otherwise. (;

Now what happens when you see this woman pop up on your TV?

Weight-Watchers-29is5zfYou sing along with her “If you want it you got it, You got to believe; Believe in yourself…” or you change the damn channel because you are so sick of seeing her every 15 mins! Geeez Louise, no matter what channel you change it to Jennifer Hudson will pop up! I get it, she wants people to believe in themselves, change their ways and have a healthier life. Ok cool! It isn’t THAT easy…for me at least, and probably 60% of the people in the U.S alone are right there with me. I LOVE FOOD and if you thought any of these pictures looked delicious then you do to.

My venting has a purpose, I actually do want to learn to eat healthier just as long as I can still get by with eating my favorite foods and them not be stripped of their flavor! How in the world can I do this though, it’s going to be tough. There’s no doubt in my mind I will have a struggle on my hands fighting the temptations, but I will do it! My New Years Resolution is “Self-Control” something I have, yet it’s so far from the surface I have to find it again. It’s my mission, self-control!

DIY Recipe Book

This little recipe book I made brought me a lot of joy. I’ve been wanting to make something like this for a while, been browsing the web for how-to’s and everything. I found a few pages that had really cute ideas so it was time to give it a shot.

What you will need:

  1. cardboard-2 pieces
  2. 1 in. rings
  3. hole puncher
  4. modpodge
  5. glue stick
  6. scissors
  7. scrapbook paper
  8. markers
  9. labels (optional)
  10. list of recipes
  11. & whatever else you want to put on it to make it your own.

**you can get all of the supplies at Hobby Lobby!

First things first, design & cover the cardboard, then punch 3 holes in it…if you didn’t know already it’s going to be the backbone to the book :) Next, choosing the papers. I outlined the cardboard on a piece of scrapbook paper then I used that to be my guide on cutting out the rest. I cheated and had a paper-cutter-majigger (lol), which by the way is a tremendous time saver! Okay, all of that’s done…what ya do next is punch holes in the papers you cut out & put the book together with the rings.

Either write the recipes or print them like I did. My handwriting is super-duper sloppy, so I wouldn’t have been able to read what I wrote if I free-handed this mess…and I am not kidding ;) Be sure to make an index page & use the markers to write out the different categories, or you can add labels…Take the glue stick & glue the cut out recipes on the pages.  Another thing, I used my very own recipes & a few of my favorites. I added plenty of extra pages so I’ll be able to add more in the future.

Tada–It’s Done! See it wasn’t to hard, now was it? Ok, it is a little tricky but it’s worth it. You now have your very one homemade recipe book which is also a great idea for a gift.

Simple Deviled Eggs with a little twist!

eggsIngredients:

  • 6 hard-cooked eggs
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon honey mustard
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½  teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sweet relish
  • 1 pinch pepper, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Directions:

Slice eggs in half lengthwise and remove yolks; set whites aside. Mash yolks with a fork in a small bowl. Stir in mayonnaise, cream cheese, vinegar, mustard,  salt, pepper, and relish; mix well. If you want to taste more cream cheese just add in 3 tbsp. instead of 2. Stuff or pipe egg yolk mixture into egg whites. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
